Healthcare I.T. – Innovations that will transform healthcare now and in the future
September Technology In Focus Series
Washington Technology Industry Association
Our region is a nexus for innovative software, health care, and medical devices. As the healthcare industry and government seek to control spiraling costs and improve care, it is turning to IT as never before. Health IT has emerged as the prime catalyst for reforming the U.S. health care system. The federal stimulus package includes $19 billion in incentives for the adoption and use of health information technology beginning in 2011. Interoperability standards, workflow issues, physician acceptance, integration with medical devices, acceptance of telemedicine, and other improvements are needed to accelerate the adoption of health IT. With our local software and technology expertise, the Northwest is well-positioned to profit from reform.
Hear from our panel of experts who are at the cutting edge of this transition and get their assessments of opportunities for IT and healthcare in the coming year, and the coming decade.

The Challenge:
Your critical business data is trapped in legacy systems
Microsoft Partner information is located in disparate systems accessible via a wide array of user interfaces—it is not easily discovered and consumed by the team members who need it. The Microsoft Partner Program domain consists of data from 12+ distinct platforms built independently and integrated in an ad hoc method. Partner Program data ranges from simple attributes like name and location, to partner level, to sales generated over the lifetime of the relationship. In order for Microsoft to best leverage its Partner relationships, it needed to be able to easily locate and consume the data available, without an adverse impact on the existing systems.
Our Solution:
A single point of access to your data

BI Dashboard
Leveraging the myBI platform, Cinetix Solutions introduced new Business Intelligence tools to the Microsoft Partner organization to increase the value, visibility, and discoverability of all partner BI assets. The myBI platform is a hosted, integrated, and configurable Business Intelligence portal, providing expanded reporting, data mining and Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities. It allows business groups to expose the right information to the right users in the right format, and to gain business insight with Microsoft BI tools. This new platform not only supports a world class tool for business performance throughout the entire Partner organization, it also provides Microsoft with the resources that help it make accurate and confident business decisions every day.

The Challenge:
Your salesforce needs enterprise-wide, consistent tools to meet their sales targets
Optimizing mountains of data to streamline and create consistent actionable information is a formidable challenge for Microsoft Corporation’s US Enterprise Product Group Sales Team. Prior to this content management consolidation and Business Intelligence effort, the critical assets were spread across individual desktops, varied ad hoc SharePoint sites, file shares, email threads, and the CRM system. The information was not searchable nor consistently accessible by geography, account hierarchy, or team role.
Our Solution:
A single tool to organize and quickly access your data
Recognizing the need for experienced vendor support, Microsoft brought in proven solution providers from Cinetix Solutions. Our consultants helped to identify and refine business requirements and provide project leadership in executing the development, test, and delivery of the solution.
- Utilized SharePoint to create a content management system to provide “one-stop” shopping for the 100K plus document library
- Created a one-page account level dashboard “cheat sheet” to refresh the entire account team on the most important account information
- Created a simple ASP.NET user interface to allow browsing and searching by customer, sales role, account hierarchy and geographical hierarchies as well as keywords
- Created a data mart and associated ETL to consolidate the data into key decision support documents
- Provided summary and detailed reporting that tracks account document compliance and supports the Microsoft sales methodology

Sencha Touch Mobile Web Development
Join COWPU for a quick overview of Sencha Touch, and dive into an example app to kick the tires a bit.
Last week Sencha (formerly known as ExtJs) dropped a new HTML5/CSS3 mobile framework onto the scene with the release of Sencha Touch. Sencha Touch provides a framework to rapidly develop mobile web applications for modern smart phones that look and behave much like mobile applications.
From Sencha:
Sencha Touch is the world’s first app framework built specifically to leverage HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript for the highest level of power, flexibility, and optimization. We make specific use of HTML5 to deliver components like audio and video, as well as a localStorage proxy for saving data offline. We have made extensive use of CSS3 in our stylesheets to provide the most robust styling layer possible.
