Bend SharePoint User Group Meeting – July
Presentation by Jen Floyd of Deschutes County. Free lunch and door prizes!
For more information, please see Bend SPUG.
This monthly event celebrates the spirit of entrepreneurship in Central Oregon and strives to provide a unique forum where leaders of growing businesses can network with qualified funding sources, fellow entrepreneurs, key advisors, and business professionals. PubTalk is the 3rd Thursday of every month.
Come Talk Copyright, Trademarks, and Technology at TechSpace!
Join us (at our new digs in the TechSpace!) for an evening of informal discussion about the impact technology has had on the field of copyright and trademark law. And, of course, the impact this all has on businesses and geeks alike. (Yeah, I’m looking at you, you open-source zealots!)
Susan Stearns, a local copyright & trademark lawyer, has generously offered to lead a casual discussion and will kick things off with a brief overview of what copyright and trademark law is about, including highlights of how technology has affected some of her cases. However the bulk of the meeting will be spent in casual discussion with the audience on whatever topics or issues they have concerns about. Or as Susan put it, “Advice from a copyright/trademark lawyer… for free!”
NOTE: If you have specific topics of interest, please include them in the comment field when you RSVP, so Susan can do a little prep work prior to the meeting.

WoTech Just Lunch May 2010
“Just Lunch” is a monthly opportunity for… lunch. Except this month let’s have brunch! We’ll meet the second week of each month at a restaurant or brown-bag it at the park (weather permitting). This is a “co-ed” event!
For more information, please see WoTech:
Why
Because it’s okay to talk about knitting, cooking, and code… all at one meeting.
What
Bend, Oregon is fortunate to be a place that many innovators call home. WoTech’s mission is twofold:
- celebrate women who are technology innovators and
- give women working in technology fields an opportunity to network with other like-minded individuals.
Who
Our group is not exclusive to women – everyone is welcome. But keep in mind that the conversation could change from Perl to purl, or from business intelligence to baking… at any moment. We’re more likely to talk about our kids (or pets) than football. And that’s totally okay with us!
We define “technology” with equally broad strokes. Software developers, chemists, medical professionals, or otherwise… if you consider yourself to be a geek girl or tech wiz of any kind, then you’ll probably find like-minded folks at WoTech.

Redhawk Network Engineering Security Seminar
Few people realize how much money is tied up in their network. Not just in the hardware and software, but the information. Even fewer people know all the information can be compromised…or lost altogether. To find out the most effective ways to protect your information, you are invited to attend our complimentary seminar: “RISK: Raising Your Information Security Knowledge.”
Our next user group meeting is coming up on Friday, July 10. Kris McBride will be presenting on Performance Point and SharePoint.
Sencha Touch Mobile Web Development
Join COWPU for a quick overview of Sencha Touch, and dive into an example app to kick the tires a bit.
Last week Sencha (formerly known as ExtJs) dropped a new HTML5/CSS3 mobile framework onto the scene with the release of Sencha Touch. Sencha Touch provides a framework to rapidly develop mobile web applications for modern smart phones that look and behave much like mobile applications.
From Sencha:
Sencha Touch is the world’s first app framework built specifically to leverage HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript for the highest level of power, flexibility, and optimization. We make specific use of HTML5 to deliver components like audio and video, as well as a localStorage proxy for saving data offline. We have made extensive use of CSS3 in our stylesheets to provide the most robust styling layer possible.
